NBN
The National Broadband Network (NBN) was introduced in the Port Lincoln area in February 2016 and other parts of Eyre before & after. Every premises in Australia gets the NBN installed, it's just the type of connection which varies depending on your location. So here is our advice!
Do I need to connect to the NBN? No, connecting to the NBN is not compulsory. It depends whether or not you wish to keep your fixed line telephone number, and it depends on where you live. If you live in the Port Lincoln township, where Fibre-to-the-Node is the designated NBN service for your premises, then your current fixed line telephone service is likely to be switched off in March 2019. So if you live in Port Lincoln and wish to retain your fixed line number, you will need to connect to the NBN. However, if you live outside of the Port Lincoln area, where your designated NBN service is either Fixed Wireless or Sky Muster Satellite, then you will be able to keep your current fixed line telephone whether or not you connect to the NBN.
Should I connect to the NBN? If you want a faster internet connection, the short answer is yes. If you sign up for an nbn25, nbn50 or nbn100 service, your internet speed will be a faster and/or cheaper than what you are using right now.
The NBN is only available as a fixed connection.
